As I sat around, wanting to do everything in my power to avoid having to read Hamlet, I decided to try watching Gossip Girl. I watched the two most recent episodes.
The show is reasonably interesting. I think that the girls’ clothes are really cute. But I don’t understand how they can wear tights in Manhattan during the winter. I find myself freezing to death if I wear tights in autumn in California. Their hairstyles (long curls, usually) are pretty too.
I wonder what life would be like if I went to a rich private prep school.
Anyways, Serena irritates me sometimes. She irritates me in the same way Meredith irritates me–the helpless, whiny female protagonist with a hunky beau following her around and consoling her like a portable therapist. Even though Serena has pretty hair and a very cute choice of coats/dresses/tights, her friendship with Blair is somewhat baffling. Why does she (for lack of better words) keep sucking Blair’s dick all the time? Blair seems like a two-timing bitch. And Nate and Chuck are both ugly. None of the guys on Gossip Girl appeal to me at all. They are all insecure young people who were chosen for the sake of “good looks”, but they aren’t very good complements to the girls on the show.
And Gossip Girl needs to find a hobby. Like a sport or a club. Really now.
